Robert Lefebvre Presenting Workshop At Interdrone

Robert Lefebvre is glad to be invited back to the InterDrone Conference in Las Vegas from September 7th to 9th.  He is scheduled to present a workshop on Friday at 12:00.

Introduction to Rotorcraft Aerodynamics

This class will explain the complexities of multirotor and helicopter aerodynamics as it applies to UAV system development in a practical and accessible presentation. No engineering degree required, though a few equations will be presented. Topics covered will start with the basic Momentum Equation which is a strong determining factor in the the power required for flight, and resulting efficiency. All the way up to the basics of flight dynamics, there will be a compare/contrast between different multirotor systems and helicopters. Not purely theory, the class focuses on practical design choices to help you decide which system is right for your requirements. We will also cover some lesser known phenomenon that affect rotorcraft flight, such as Dsymmetry of Lift, Vortex Ring state, and Settling With Power.

In addition, he will be present at the InterDrone After Hours on Wednesday 7:30-9:00 at the ‘Open-Source Autopilots’ meet-up.
